NFL: Are The Washington Football Team and New York Giants Legit? Asking For a Friend

Don’t look now but the Giants and Washington are hot heading into the season’s final stretch. The Giants have won 4 straight and Washington Football Team is riding a 3 game win streak. The strengths of both teams come on the defensive side of the ball. ‘Defense wins Championships’ isn’t a cliche, it’s facts. Ron Rivera knows that better than anyone. Rivera was on the legendary Bears team that won a Super Bowl in 1985. He was the youngster on that team at 23 years old. With his first pick as the Head Coach of Washington he took the best defensive player in the 2020 draft and that was Chase Young.

These teams have spent the last few years building the defensive front. In the last two drafts the Giants have selected 14 defensive players and the Washington Football team has drafted 8 defensive players. The past 4 seasons the Washington Football Team has snagged a defensive player in the 1st round. The Giants head coach Joe Judge is familiar with winning traditions. He was under Bill Belichick the past 8 years and before that he was a Special Teams assistant for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Judge won 3 Super Bowls with the Patriots and a National Championship in 2009 with the Tide.

These two organizations are committed to building with Defense and O-Lineman. Games are won or lost in the trenches with the linemen. The Giants have the slight edge with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, if he can stay healthy. Danny Dimes and a healthy Barkley puts the Giants near the top of the division. A true Number 1 Wide Receiver is the next step for the Giants to be taken seriously. The Washington Football Team is still looking for their future QB but for now they are being led by a true professional and winner in Alex Smith. Washington needs to build off the success of the defense, 2nd year Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin, and rookie RB Antonio Gibson who has 11 rushing TDs through week 14.
